Ashish is a tried, tested, and trusted financial services industry professional with around 30 years of experience in the capital markets. Over this period, he served as Portfolio Manager & Head – Portfolio Management Services at Deutsche Asset Management, and as VP & Portfolio Manager – Offshore Funds at Kotak Asset Management. He then moved to SBI Funds Management Pvt Ltd as Head – Portfolio Management Services (International) & Senior Fund Manager. During his career, he successfully set up one of the largest offshore fund management businesses in India and launched and managed several offshore funds based out of Luxembourg, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and the USA. The offshore funds managed by him won awards in Japan for their long-term performance. Ashish’s knowledge and experience span equity research, stock broking, offshore funds, portfolio management, and advisory services. He also wrote a column on Indian markets for a leading financial daily in Japan. His last assignment was with Tata Asset Management as Head – Strategy and International Business, where he was also Head – Portfolio Management Services and Principal Officer. Ashish turned entrepreneur on September 2, 2019, and founded EquiPoise Capital Management Pvt Ltd with a focus on investment advisory and offshore advisory services. Says he, “Personally, I have been involved in raising and managing funds for foreign investors for close to two decades. While foreign fund assets in custody are well over USD 400 billion and account for nearly 21% of India's market capitalisation, when compared to their global size and the opportunity India offers, it is a pittance. Similarly, only 2–3% of Indians have a mutual fund account, and their exposure to financial savings remains low. This inspired me to start EquiPoise and focus on adding value to both domestic and foreign investors, enabling them to participate in India's growth and benefit immensely.” Having established EquiPoise, Ashish maintains a close watch on companies and capital markets while encouraging investors to connect directly with him. He shares a strong rapport with his investors and focuses personally on their financial well-being. He holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) from Ramnarain Ruia College, University of Mumbai, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management Studies from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, University of Mumbai.
