Marcellus Curation follows a long only equity investment strategy focused on building a diversified portfolio of high quality companies selected through a proprietary bottom up research framework and forensic accounting filters. The strategy begins with the BSE 500 universe and applies a structured screening process to eliminate companies with accounting irregularities and governance concerns through forensic accounting checks covering multiple financial ratios related to cash flow quality, balance sheet integrity and audit practices. Remaining companies are evaluated through fundamental parameters such as revenue growth, return on capital employed and reinvestment capability to identify cash generative franchises that are scaling rapidly. Detailed bottom up research including analysis of annual reports, stakeholder discussions and independent channel checks is undertaken to assess competitive advantages, pricing power, longevity of business moats and succession planning. Portfolio construction results in a concentrated portfolio of approximately twenty to twenty five stocks selected from a broader research coverage universe of about forty five to fifty companies that clear the proprietary filters and research process. The strategy aims to generate absolute returns through disciplined stock selection rather than index hugging while maintaining diversification across sectors and market capitalisation segments. Sector agnostic and combination of large cap, mid cap and small cap.
