Marcellus Rising Giants follows a long only equity strategy focused on investing in emerging companies with strong competitive advantages, clean governance and high quality management capable of delivering sustained earnings growth over long periods. The strategy targets companies with market capitalisation between approximately five hundred million dollars and ten billion dollars and aims to identify future large cap leaders early in their growth journey. The investment process begins with a defined universe of small and mid cap companies and applies a proprietary forensic accounting screen using multiple accounting ratios covering income statement, balance sheet, cash flow and audit quality checks to eliminate firms with governance or accounting concerns. Remaining companies are evaluated using fundamental parameters such as revenue growth, return on capital employed and reinvestment capability to identify cash generative franchises that are scaling rapidly. Detailed bottom up research including analysis of annual reports, management interviews and independent third party checks is conducted to assess competitive advantages, pricing power, growth longevity and succession planning. Portfolio construction typically results in around thirty rising giants with long term investment horizon and focus on consistent free cash flow compounding.
